I am Postdoctoral Fellow in Kristina Simeone's laboratory with expertise in electrophysiology. I completed my Ph.D. in retinal physiology under my mentor, Wally Thoreson, Ph.D., at University of Nebraska Medical Center. My research interests focus on improving our understanding of adenosine influences seizure regulating and sleep regulating brain regions. I am a father of two and I love singing and playing guitar (punk and reggae).
Sara Knowles
I am a former Simeone Undergraduate Researcher. I received my Bachelor's degree from Creighton in Biology, My research interests focused on pharmacogenetics in epilepsy. I am originally from Maryville, MO. I am currently a Neuroscience doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona. I enjoy playing volleyball, swimming, dancing and reading.

Shruthi Iyer
I am a research technician. I received my Master's degree in Pharmacy from Creighton University and my Bacherlor's Degree in Pharmacy from India from Bombay College of Pharmacy, one of the top ranking institutes for Pharmacy in the country. My research interests focus on searching for bio-markers for sudden unexpected death in epilepsy. In my free time I like to cook new dishes, record songs for You tube and read varied genres of books.
Malavika Deodhar
I am a Doctoral Candidate in Dr. Tim Simeone's laboratory. I have a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Bombay College of Pharmacy, Mumbai, India. My research interests focus on developing a new mouse model to study epilepsy. My career goal is to work in the planning and execution of clinical trials by communicating with the FDA on behalf of pharma companies to bring new therapy to patients faster. In my free time I enjoy painting, dancing and hiking in the mountains.
Sara Budney
I am currently a medical student at Creighton University and am a Simeone Medical Student Researcher. My research interests are in molecular genetics and genetic diseases. I completed my undergraduate degree at Creighton as well and double majored in medical mathematics and biology. I'm originally from a small town in Colorado where I grew up raising farm animals.

Jodi Hallgren
I am a Certified Laboratory Animal Technician with over 25 years of animal handling and laboratory experience. I have handled many different species of animals from mice to non-human primates. I have worked at three amazing Universities during my career: University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Louisville, Kentucky and currently at Creighton University. I have extensive experience with rodent surgeries and respiratory physiology. In my free time I enjoy reading novels, being outdoors, and cruising the country side in my Corvette.
Lauren Netzel
I am an Undergraduate Neuroscience Researcher in Kristina Simeone's laboratory. My research interests focus on understanding how diet influence respiratory physiology in a rodent model of epilepsy. My career goals are to improve our understanding of neurobiofeedback. In my free time I enjoy exercising, playing soccer, and eating cheese.
